Glad all you losers are all back on boardLOL

Melly - you are dead right on healthy eating. I am actually doing Weight Watchers and attending each week with Debbie - another NRAS member who lives near m - so we can encourage and support each other. Both of us have said we would have given up by now if we didn't have each other to encourage. Our leader is just wonderful and holds Debbie and I up as examples, pointing outto the class that we can't exercise and we have both lost nearly 3 stones each ! Smile

I can honestly say that I have never been hungry on this diet and, as long as I am not greedy, I can have a small packet of Maltesers, or a Kit Kat or some other treat. We weigh and count points and my GP said that it was the best plan I could be on. I feel so much better and, of course, there is much less strain on my joints.

BTW, I'm not on commission for WW RollEyes

I do fall off the wagon occasionally, but just give myself a severe talking too, tell my WW leader (and Debbie) and between us, I get back on track again BigGrin

Good luck everyone.ThumpUp

I j ioned WW last year .I haven't gone back but i am going to try at home. I have the book so i know the diet. The meetings are a bit out of the way for me. Hopefully i will get plenty of encouragement from all you dieters. I will start in the morning, i need at least to loose 10 pounds. I am pear shaped with a big bum and fat thighs. however much weight i loose i will still have the same shape but not so big. Please encourage me. Kathleen Mc.

Well done you lot - you are all doing so well.

By the way - you should NEVER be hungry. You can eat as much salad and veg as you want. Get yourself a pile of carrot sticks, celery and cherry tomatoes and nibble them when you get the munchies! Potatoes - not more than 250 grams - and not too much red meat. Have fish or chicken and instead of rich sauces, use chopped tomatoes or extra light mayo - you can mix with low fat cheese and/or lemon. If you like prawns, these are very low fat and you can made a nice sauce with extra light mayo (Hellemans) with tomato puree mixed in.

Keep chips and steaks for treats when you go out (and not too often Jean LOL ) - it makes it extra special.

And here endeth my lesson RollEyes

I get weighed tomorrow - we'll see whether I practice what I preach BigGrin

Tarra you losers LOL

Hi
Just found you guys. Have just finished week1 of diet. Dieting at home trying to combine Low GL, Superfoods and calorie counting. Have lost 4 llbs which is not bad considering my age etc. First week is always the best.(Oh and worst..rumble..rumble)

Anyway I am in for a long haul probably until September. Am aiming for healthy BMI and then Iwill see. Am being referred for a possible partial knee replacemeent and I know I won't be considered until am at a healthy BMI.

Like a few of you I get to a healthier weight and then have been sabotaged by pesky RA flares, which I treat with chocolate and with no exercise soon am waddling again and not just from the RA.

Will post again next week.

Love

Well - pleased to say that I lost another 1.5 lbs this week and so I HAVE NOW LOST 3 stones in 6 months ThumpUp Whoop de doop and hey hey hey LOL

Yes, the 'Eat yourself thin' programme was great. I would encourage you to look at it for ideas of how to cut down on the fat content of 'normal' meals.

I think it is important to find a 'buddy' to do it with. I don't think I would have been able to carry on without Debbie encouraging me and she has said the same to me. I did try the e-dieting route, but didn't stick at it because I could not stay motivated.

Here's to a good weight loss to you all.

Warmest wishes, Ann

Well done Ann that is an amazing amount ThumpUp . You must feel incredibly different not carrying that extra 'small child' around with you all the time! Hard to imagine isn't it?

Good luck to everybody; lets hope a couple of months down the line we are all feeling that bit better for the loss Smile

Yes, Lyn, it is a small child. Some of us in WW class were wondering what 3 stones looked and felt like, and because I have been taking Trudy Scrumptious to classes with me, we weighed her on the scales. She is 1.5 stones - so now I say I have lost the equivalent of 2 Trudys LOL

A good tip I picked up from WW is : to avoid making creamy sauces, use low fat soft cream cheese (Philladelphia or own brands). An ounce put into a pan of cooked mushrooms, together with some pasta and a side salad, makes a VERY low calorie and scrumptious meal. I have started using the garlic and herb cheese and it is even tastier.

I also make a sugar free jelly up and get a tin of fruit in juice. Use the juice to make up the jelly to 1 pint and divide the jelly and fruit between 4 dishes. It's lovely to have as a pudding after a meal and you need something sweet. If that isn't enough, you can top it with fat free yoghurt!

Melly, you really should have some carbohydrates (potato, rice, pasta, cous cous) each day, they are filling foods and keep you full for longer. The trick is not to have too many and not to use butter on them ! The low cal fat spray saves ever such a lot of fat. I have a WW spray and put olive oil in. I use hardly any now!

Please post your tips on here everyone. It's great to hear what other people do to cut down on calories, but fill up on.

Good luck everyone. Keep on losing ThumpUp

Ann

yes yes i meant not to many potatoes

izzy recomends pasta or small amount rice instead or cous cous.

im having brown pasta, rice no sauce dont like it anyway,, no oil.
and cous cous i also have.
small amounts.

depending on my actaivty i range my portion carbs according to that.
makes sense if low activty day less carbs.

dont do desserts.
we have peice fruit if want i sweetness.

oh yes weight of a child you lost good way looking at it.

i fill up mostly on water.

especially with all the medication im on extra water does well.oats are great slow release energy and reducing cholsterol.

oh evening meal we have salad or small sandwich before 7.30pm
we have main meal lucnhtime so burn it off before evening something duetcian recomended to my hubby.and dotn skimp on your breakfast.
